Community Outside Regular Events

Task Force Hydro 1 is more than just water activities; it’s about creating a community—an Ohana. We achieve this through C.O.R.E (Community Outside Regular Events). In addition to our regular events, we keep the TFH1 Ohana connected year-round with annual potlucks, holiday celebrations, memorial paddle outs, and a community WhatsApp group for easy communication anytime.

A strong community is essential, especially for veterans, active military, and first responders. Transitioning to civilian life can be challenging, and having a strong network helps combat feelings of isolation.

By coming together through C.O.R.E., we create a safe space where experiences can be shared, friendships can blossom, and healing can take place both in the water and out.

Why do we use the word Ohana to describe our community?

In Hawaiian, “Ohana” means family, but its significance goes beyond just blood. It embodies a deep sense of belonging and connection, emphasizing that all members—whether related by blood, friendship, or community—support and care for one another. Ohana reflects the spirit of love, loyalty, and mutual respect, creating a foundation for strong relationships and a supportive environment.
